The full description of this power drill is quite a mouthful, Makita XPH012 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2-Inch Hammer Driver-Drill Kit with One Battery.
Well, at least it tells you what you are going to get in a single line.

Makita, the number one brand according to many who swear by it. This Makita XPH012 serves as a driver-drill or hammer driver-drill, eliminating the need of two tool to one. This tool is part of Makita expansion in the the 18-volts Lithium-Ion series which has the fastest charge time in their categories.

Light, compact and powerful, measuring 8-1/8″ long and weighing only 4 lbs with battery and delivering 480 in.lbs. of maximum torque. Comes with variable 2 speed (0-400 and 0~1500 rpm), covering a wide range of driving, drilling and hammering operation.
Also has a built-in LED to illuminate the work area.

Please take note that it comes with one battery and one charger and extra batteries has to be purchased seperately.
There is a 3-year warranty on the tool and 1-year warranty on the battery.

Most users couldn’t find much fault with it but of course that depends on each individual expectations and the kind of work it’s subjected to.

• There were usual complaints about the drill dying on them and not able to complete the job.
  Batteries not able to charge.

• Wobbling when drilling but there were no mention of the length of drill bit that was being used so that could be a factor too.

• The battery charges fast but there is no indicator to give you any warning or status of battery. One explanation about why the tool dies without warning could possibly be related to how regularly it’s used.
  The trend seems to indicate that irregular users always have this problem whereas those who use the Makita XPH012 regularly don’t see this problem.
  I’m not a battery expert but I will venture a guess here, that it could be the way the battery is charging and discharging.

Anyway, whatever the cause may be, in life, some people do end up with a faulty product from time to time from a reputable manufacturer and isn’t that’s what the warranty is for?
